Preparing for the big ride, we've been just relaxing around the farm for a few days. Want to soak up the true vacation experience so we've fished (the cat was hoping for a catch, but to no avail), after bailing out the boat.
Next we golfed at a small 9-hole Golfklubb. This almost didn't happen as they only had 3 left-handed clubs, so I had to improvise with a Driver, 5-iron, and putter. I even managed two pars and zero lost balls. Tommy learned what pressure on the golf course is: hitting a tee shot over a lake when its only the first hole and your down to one golf ball left after putting the first two shots in the lake. He managed to recover and finished with two balls after finding one on the course.
We also went sightseeing, visiting the coastal city of Varberg, home of the Varberg Fortress, a 14th Century fortress with a moat, cannons, and now home of a cycling museum. After lunch we visited the small boat harbor where Joe provided his expert opinion on what makes a good sailing vessel.
We also had a mission in Varberg, visiting the local market to pick up a large bucket of pickled herring for dinner. Tommy found another attraction in the market to buy, a pair of klogs from the Svensson factory.
The rest of the time we've been taking it easy around the Svensson farm, watching Tommy's dad, Yngve feed the cows, visiting Tommy's sister down the road in the house that her husband Lars built. It stays light so late that even at 9:15 we can hang around outside in the sunshine.
Oh, we've also done a few bike rides, practicing our riding in a 6-bike pace line without crashing into each other, or telling Tommy to SLOW DOWN so we can keep up.
